After 13 performances across six locations, Golden Slumbers has completed its 2025 tour!
This has been our most ambitious production to date, bringing together our Core Company, creative facilitators, a live band (The Slumbers), and an extraordinary chorus of 42 Glories. Together, they created a rich and moving show that explored the endless cycle of labour experienced by women through their lives while celebrating everyone’s right to a little rest and recuperation.
We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Golden Slumbers possible: our brilliant ensemble of performers, the musicians, creative facilitators, volunteers, production team, and the many communities across Kent and beyond who joined us throughout the tour.
We are deeply grateful to our funders and supporters – Arts Council England, Ideas Test, POW Thanet, BEEE Creative, Gulbenkian Arts Centre, Applause Touring and the University of Kent School of Arts – without whom this project would not have been possible.
Creative Director Sian Stevenson said: “I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved with Golden Slumbers. The show has truly given us all a big Cwtch, bringing together older performers, Moving Well workshop participants and professional artists to create something beautiful, bold and heartfelt. It proves that when we make space for older people to share their stories, extraordinary things can happen.”
For many of the Glories, participants from our community workshops, the show was a chance to explore new possibilities in ways they had never done before. One participant said: “I like that older people take up a lot of space with the show. It’s so important.” Another said: “Golden Slumbers has allowed me to pull some grace out of my body with the movements.”
While the 2025 tour has come to a close, Golden Slumbers will be available for touring again in 2026. If you are interested in bringing Golden Slumbers to your festival or venue, please get in touch at: info@movingmemorydance.com
