Sacconi Quartet and Moving Memory’s Dover Groovin Well group come together as part of the Sacconi Residency Weekend for Sounds Folkestone to explore what happens when movers meet musicians and Shostakovich’s String Quartet no. 8 in C minor, opus 110.
Written in Dresden, 1960, “in memory of the victims of fascism and war”, Shostakovich’s exquisite, 20 minute string quartet has an enduring resonance. With this sharing of work in progress, musicians and dancers move through a sense of loss, towards resistance, resolution and restoration found within a community of care.
The sharing takes place at 2.30pm on Sunday 6 October at The Green Room @ The Grand, Folkestone. The event is free but please book in advance here to secure your place.
