Groovin Well

A group of people dressed in colour clothing dance in a hall with arms outstretched.

Groovin Well supports older people, people with long-term health conditions or disabilities and people experiencing social isolation. The programme is designed to encourage sustained physical activity and engage people who do not normally take part in movement and exercise. We work in public spaces, such as shopping centres, community halls and libraries, using an approach that also embeds an element of public performance to bring deeper engagement and gives participants a stronger sense of well-being, identity and agency.

Groovin Well workshops are designed for ongoing groups who want to extend their skills over a longer period of time. Participants often become long-term members of Moving Memory, taking part in workshops and performances across Kent and volunteering with the company. Participants tell us they are more active and stay engaged over longer periods of time because they are involved in a creative process. In some cases, participants become trainee facilitators and help to deliver workshops.
